Khari Clark leads first women’s college basketball starting five of 2024
These women’s basketball players posted big-time performances and were named to the NCAA.com starting five this week.

Stony Brook graduate Khari Clark scored a team-high 21 points to lead the Seawolves to their fifth straight win and 10th of the season, an 81-56 win over Cornell on Dec. 30.
For Clark, it marked the second time this season the forward tallied 20 more points and it was her ninth game with double-digit points. Clark finished the game 9-of-11 from the field and moved up to seventh nationally in field goal percentage (66.7%), which also ranks first in the Coastal Athletic Association.

This season, Clark is tied for the team lead in points per game (15.5) and second on the squad in rebounds per game (6.6), while playing 25.5 minutes per game.
The Seawolves (10-1) return to the court on Friday, Jan. 5, 2024, as they host Campbell for their first CAA battle of the season and their first-ever meeting with the Fighting Camels.

UConn defeated No. 18 Marquette in its only game last week, with senior forward Aaliyah Edwards leading the way with 19 points, 12 rebounds and four assists as the Huskies rolled the Golden Eagles, 95-64 on New Yearβs Eve.
UConn has rode the strong play of Edwards in winning six straight games. In seven games in December, Edwards averaged 19.3 points, 10.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game and had five double-doubles.
The 15th-ranked Huskies (10-3, 2-0 BIG EAST) face their second straight ranked conference opponent when UConn travels to No. 21 Creighton on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2024.

Florida State sophomore guard Ta’Niya Latson recorded two 30-point performances as the Seminoles opened Atlantic Coast Conference play with wins over Georgia Tech and Wake Forest.
After dropping 30 in the Seminoles’ (11-3, 2-0) ACC-opening win vs. Georgia Tech on Dec. 29, Latson repeated her performance in a 73-61 home win over Wake Forest on Sunday. The Miami, Fla., native had 20 of her 30 points in the second half, and went 10-of-20 from the floor, 9-of-9 from the free throw line and drew five fouls overall.
Latson has topped 30 points a remarkable 10 times already in her short collegiate career and currently leads Florida State with an average of 20.8 points per game.
The Seminoles will next travel to Raleigh, N.C., to play No. 3 NC State on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024.

Nebraska improved to 10-3 overall and 2-0 in Big Ten Conference play behind the strong play of Alexis Markowski, who posted a 20-point, 10-rebound double-double to power the Cornhuskers to its first-ever home victory over Maryland, 87-81, in front of nearly 8,800 fans at Pinnacle Bank Arena on New Year’s Eve.
Markowski recorded her eighth double-double of the season and fourth 20-point performance of the season for the Lisa Leslie Award candidate from Lincoln, Nebraska after getting 10 points in each of the first and second halves on Sunday for the Big Red.
A 6-foot-3-inch junior center/forward, Markowski currently leads the team this season in points (17.5), and rebounds (9.8) per game. Nebraska returns to Big Ten road action at Wisconsin on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024.

Eighth-ranked Colorado took down No. 12 Utah 76-65 in a highly anticipated Pac-12 matchup as Jaylyn Sherrod played a key role throughout the game, scoring a career-high 34 points, 13 of which came in the fourth quarter. She added four rebounds and four assists while racking up six steals on the defensive end.
The Buffaloes (11-1, 1-0 Pac-12) were faced with an eight-point deficit at the 8:18 mark of the fourth quarter, but with Sherrod totaling 13 points, Colorado finished the game on a 23-4 run. A crowd of 7,383 fans witnessed the victory to set the highest regular-season attendance for a Colorado women’s basketball game since 2002.

With the 34 points, Sherrod jumped up to 23rd all-time in scoring with 1,224 career points for the Buffaloes. Additionally, she is now 10th all-time in steals with 239.
