Manchester United could well be in with a shot of landing Marko Arnautovic this summer after the player cast doubt on his future with West Ham.
He noted that he hasn’t heard anything about his future but stopped short of giving an actual answer about where he would be next season, after links with Man United and Jose Mourinho even turning up to an international game to scout him.
“I am happy with my job. Whatever happens will happen. I’ve never heard anything,” Arnautovic told Sky Austria.
“Even three weeks ago I haven’t heard anything. That’s why I cannot say anything about it.
“The only thing that bothers me is that I am in good health and that I am able to play football.
“I have a contract at West Ham, that’s all we have to talk about.”
United are making progress with their summer signings, and have already added the duo of Dalot and Fred to their ranks, and Mourinho is thought to be targeting players who he feels can add not only something on the field in terms of their style of play but also a strength mentally and push the side forward in that respect.
After losing Michael Carrick to his coaching staff, Mourinho needs leaders on the field and players who can take the side to the next level, which is not something he feels some of the current squad are able to do, having noted that on many occasions last season.
