Chelsea vs Tottenham
Stamford Bridge will be rocking on Thursday night when Chelsea host Tottenham.
Which of these sides will progress through to the Carabao Cup final where they’ll face Man City?
Tottenham hold a slender advantage before the trip to west London following a 1-0 win in the first-leg of the semi-final.
A Harry Kane penalty proved decisive at Wembley.
Can Chelsea turn the tie around on home soil?
The Blues come into the game on the back of a poor performance in a 2-0 loss at Arsenal.
Tottenham, meanwhile, won a morale-boosting match at Fulham on Sunday in which Harry Winks scored the winner with seconds left on the clock.
Carabao Cup: Chelsea & Spurs injury news
Chelsea only have a couple of players out for the Tottenham match this week.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek has been sidelined with a back injury. While fringe player Marco van Ginkel is out with a knee problem.
As for Tottenham, Mauricio Pochettino has far more selection issues.
Kane is sidelined with his ankle ligament injury, while Son Heung-min is unavailable as he’s with South Korea at the Asian Cup.
The win at Fulham came at a cost as Dele Alli suffered a thigh injury ruling him out of the Chelsea game.
Moussa Sissoko has been out of action with groin problem, while Victor Wanyama is nursing a knee issue.
Lucas Moura & Gonzalo Higuain
Brazilian midfielder Lucas Moura could return for the Chelsea match.
Moura missed the Fulham game with a knee injury, however Pochettino suggested that Lucas could play up-front against Chelsea.
Speaking to the press after Fulham, Pochettino said:
It is not a worry [being without Kane and Son]. It’s an opportunity for other players. We are going to be there [against Chelsea] trying to win the game. It is going to be tough because Chelsea are a very good team.
I hope that Lucas Moura is going to be good. He was training today at the training ground but today we didn’t want to take a risk with him so we will wait until he is 100 per cent. Maybe for the bench, maybe he will start the game.
As for Chelsea, will Gonzalo Higuain make his debut for the Blues against Tottenham?
Higuain is tipped to join Chelsea in the January transfer window. Indeed, rumours over the weekend suggested the Argentine is almost a Blues player already.
#Higuain move to #cfc now just waiting on AC Milan finalising #Piatek.Atletico Madrid have agreed terms over #Morata loan. There are reports it includes an option to buy worth £48.6m. Including loan fee, that would mean Chelsea basically get most, if not all, of their money back.
