25-year old guard Martin Hermannsson (190-G-94) had a very impressive game in the last round for ALBA and receives a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 25.
He had the game-high 24 points adding four rebounds and seven assists for ALBA in his team’s victory, helping them to edge out Zenit (#18, 7-18) 83-81. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on top of the standings. ALBA is placed at 14th position in Euroleague. ALBA is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 9-16 record. In the team’s last game Hermannsson had a remarkable 63.6% from 2-point range. It’s his second year at ALBA and it’s hard to imagine this team without him. Martin Hermannsson averages this season 10.5ppg and 4.7apg.

Second best performed player last round was Will Thomas (203-PF-86, agency: Two Points) of Zenit. He is American-Georgian forward in his first season at Zenit. In the last game Thomas recorded impressive 19 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Bad luck as Zenit was edged by the higher-ranked ALBA (#14, 9-16) 83-81. The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. Zenit is still at the dead bottom 18th position. 18 lost games are too many comparing to just seven victories Zenit managed to get this year. Thomas is a newcomer at Zenit and quickly became one of team’s most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 10.8ppg (#9). He also registered 4.1 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to guard Mike James (185-PG-90) of CSKA (#5). James scored 29 points. He was a key player of CSKA, leading his team to a 86-81 win against the lower-ranked Crvena Zvezda (#13, 10-15). CSKA needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 17 victories and 8 lost games. James has a great season in Euroleague. After 25 games, he made it on the list of the league’s leaders in points with 21.3ppg (2nd best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Nikola Mirotic (208-PF-91) of FC Barcelona – 20 points and 9 rebounds

The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) – 2*BSAG – 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM – 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) – 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) – (FTA-FTM)

Olympiacos’ injury problems not only remain but keep increasing, ahead of the match against ASVEL for Euroleague on Thursday, 20th.
After Spanoulis, Charalampopoulos and Rochestie, its forward Brandon Paul (193-F/G-91, college: Illinois, agency: Pensack Sports) and forward/center Augustine Rubit (202-C/F-89, college: S.Alabama, agency: Wasserman) raised high fever, entered the hospital with flu and will not be present tomorrow.
The ‘Reds’ are also not able to register newly signed guards McKissic and Buycks due to the transfer ban that EuroLeague has imposed on the club (a problem which has not yet been solved).
After all, forward Pokusevski is expected to join tomorrow’s roster, while he has not yet recover from his injury, and is doubtful about his season debut in EuroLeague
Coach Bartzokas stated today at the media day regarding tomorrow’s game that “after all these injuries, tactic comes as second subject. We keep united, have faith in our team and will fight for the win. All the players should co-operate properly and be ready both physically and mentally for the game.”
