Cape Verdean-Spanish Walter Tavares (220-C-92) put on an amazing game in the last round for league’s second-best Real Madrid and that’s him to receive a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 27.
The 27-year old center had a double-double of 13 points and twelve rebounds, while his team beat Milano (#12, 11-16) 78-73. Real Madrid maintains the 2nd position in Euroleague . They would have been even better if they hadn’t lost a few games earlier this season. Real Madrid will need more victories to improve their 21-6 record. Tavares has many years of experience at Real Madrid, through which he has constantly improved. Tavares has impressive league stats. He is in league’s top in rebounds (3rd best: 7.1rpg) and averages solid 2.1bpg and 68.1% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round’s games was 29-year old American center Greg Monroe (211-C-90) of Bayern. Monroe impressed basketball fans with 18 points and 6 rebounds. Bad luck as Bayern lost that game 71-80 to the higher-ranked Baskonia (#13, 11-16). The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. Bayern keeps 17th position. 19 lost games are too many comparing to just eight victories Bayern managed to get this year. Monroe is a newcomer at Bayern and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team’s leaders.

The third best performed player last round was American Zach LeDay (201-C/F-94, agency: Wasserman) of Zalgiris (#9). LeDay scored 23 points and grabbed five rebounds. He was a key player of Zalgiris, leading his team to a 96-85 win against Khimki (12-15). The chances of Zalgiris ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 15 games, recording just twelve victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, LeDay could help Zalgiris to bring them higher in the standings. LeDay has a very solid season. In 27 games in Euroleague he scored 11.8ppg. He also has 4.8rpg and FGP: 51.3%.
