Glenn Murray’s goal celebration Crystal Palace
Why did Crystal Palace sell Glenn Murray?
Murray left Crystal Palace back in 2013, and that decision continues to be a massive head-scratcher for the Eagles.
While Murray may now be 35-years-old, he’s still doing the business in the Premier League.
Indeed, Murray moved onto 8 Premier League goals for the season when he buried a penalty against his former employers on Tuesday night.
After scoring from the spot, Murray’s goal celebration was noticeable.
Keen to avoid any controversy, Murray didn’t celebrate his goal against Palace.
Fears for Brighton’s Glenn Murray
But Murray’s match against Palace finished early.
The striker was forced out the game in the 35th minute after he hurt his shoulder in a fall.
Murray hit the deck after a coming together with James Tomkins in the Palace box.
Immediately after falling, Murray revealed he’d hurt his right shoulder.
After the match, Murray spoke to The Argus to reveal the full extent of his injury:
I fell and hurt my AC joint. Right now it’s sore but hopefully it will settle down and we will make a decision on Wednesday or Thursday.
(On facing a long lay-of…) We’ve already had that argument with the physios!
They are withholding their judgement so we will see what it’s like when it has cooled down.
Shane Duffy’s three match suspension
Murray must now be considered a major doubt for Brighton’s match away at Burnley at the weekend.
Brighton will definitely be without defender Shane Duffy, after he was sent off against Palace.
Duffy collected a straight red for a headbutt on Patrick Van Aanholt.
Chris Hughton will now be without his centre-half for games against Burnley (a), Chelsea (h) and Bournemouth (a).
Duffy has since apologised on social media for losing his head.
Can only apologise to everyone tonight for letting use down. Grateful for the team we have here for a huge win tonight the boys were unbelievable! I’m disappointed in myself for even getting myself into the situation. What a win !! 🔵⚪️ @OfficialBHAFC
