FHSAA hires Mount Dora’s Thompson as new Director of Athletics to round out staff

The Florida High School Athletic Association has hired Edward Thompson as an athletic director and will oversee the sports of golf, girls basketball and track & field. Thompson will also be working with the Athletic Directors Advisory Committee and the Officials Advisory Committee.  During his 14 year career in high school education, Thompson has four years of experience as athletic director at Mount Dora High School.  He has also been head track and field coach for both girls and boys for a total of eight years, serving in that position at Mount Dora, Leesburg and West Orange High Schools.  He is a graduate of New Mexico State University and earned a master’s degree in Athletic Administration from Ohio University. 

Thompson will begin at the FHSAA office on Tuesday, August 11.
