Intercontinental Cup: Iberostar Tenerife top Virtus Bologna to claim trophy Feb 9, 2020

Iberostar Tenerife – Segafredo Virtus Bologna 80:72

Iberostar Tenerife claimed the Intercontinental Cup trophy. They overcame Virtus Bologna in San Cristobal de la Laguna tonight. Marcelinho Huertas (191-PG-83) came up with 23 points to pace the Spanish team to the triumph.
Iberostar Tenerife limited Virtus Bologna to just 11 points in the opening quarter to open 5-point lead. Both teams upended the tempo in the second frame. The Spaniards dropped 26 points to boost the lead to 10 points 42:32. Iberostar Tenerife stayed red hot offensive in the third period. They arrived at the final break up by as many as 13 points 67:54. Virtus Bologna managed to cut the distance to 6 points late in the game but Marcelinho Huertas and Sasu Salin came up with timely free throws to ensure the win for Tenerife. Giorgi Shermadini (217-C-89) finished with 18 points and 7 rebounds in the victory. Milos Teodosic (195-PG-87) scored 15 points, issued 8 assists and grabbed 7 rebounds, while Giampaolo Ricci (201-F-91) and Julian Gamble (208-F/C-89, college: Miami, FL) had 12 points apiece in the loss.

Isaiah Taylor (190-PG-94, college: Texas) answered with 19 points for the Valley Vipers.
