A2 Regular Season is still in too early stage and there may be still significant changes in the standings. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The most exciting game of round 3 in the A2 took place in Patra. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of Amyntas D. (0-3) to Apollon P. (3-0) 70-67 on Saturday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. It was a great evening for Angelos Tsamis (192-81) who led his team to a victory scoring 14 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists. Fotios Zoumpos (194-93) helped adding 12 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. The best for the losing side was power forward Stelios Halaris (207-93) with 13 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Apollon P. is looking forward to face Koroivos (#6) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Amyntas D. will play against Eleftheroupoli (#14) and hopes to get finally their first victory.

Pagrati’s coach Nikolaos Makropoulos tested ten players, but that didn’t help to avoid defeat in this game. Koroivos will meet Apollon P. in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Pagrati’s supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Athens to the arena Psychiko.
Olympiacos B (2-1) crushed at home Filippos Veroias (1-2) by 28 points 88-60, which is the biggest margin this round. It was a good game for Vaggelis Tzolos who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Olympiacos B’s next round opponent will be Napfliou (#8) on the road. Filippos Veroias will play against Diagoras D. and hope to win that game.

In the last game of round 3 Psychiko won against Anatolia on the opponent’s court 80-67.

Agriniou (3-0) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat Tritonas S. (0-3) 74-62. They outrebounded Tritonas S. 37-26 including a 28-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a quality performance for Cypriot Athanasios Grekas (196-95) who led the winners and scored 11 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Nikolaos Kamaras (200-97) accounted for 16 points and 4 assists for the winning side. Serbian forward Nikola Stanojevic (203-90) came up with 12 points and 5 rebounds and swingman Nikos Kokkalis (198-85) added 10 points respectively for Tritonas S. in the defeat. Samuels has tried to make it to the NBA and played in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2013.
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others he was voted Eurobasket.com All-Italian SerieA Center of the Year back in 2015.
Samuels also represented Jamaica at the Centrobasket in San Juan (Puerto Rico) seven years ago. His team won Bronze and his stats at that event were 6 games: Score-4 (17.0ppg), 7.3rpg, 1.0apg, FGP: 54.8%, FT: 79.1%.
Samuels is quite experienced player. His career allowed him to visit three different continents, while he played in five different countries. Samuels tasted the life as pro basketball player in Europe, Asia and of course North America. He has played previously professionally in China (Jiangsu Dragons), Israel, NBA (Cleveland Cavaliers), Spain (FC Barcelona) and NBA G League (College Park Skyhawks, Stockton Kings and Canton Charge).
Samuels attended University of Louisville until 2010 and it will be his tenth season as a professional player.

Panathinaikos – Olimpia Milano 78:79

Olimpia Milano recorded the second victory in the Euroleague season. They nipped Panathinaikos on the road to gain 2-1 record. Riccardo Moraschini (194-SG-91) sank two free throws with 8 seconds left in regulation to give the Italian team a decisive lead.
Milano posted a 24:20 lead after ten minutes. Panathinaikos however denied the deficit in the second frame. The hosts tied things up at 38 heading into the long break. The visitors poured in 23 points in the third quarter to ensure a 4-point lead at the final break. Panathinaikos managed to regain the lead late in regulation. Nick Calathes (198-PG-89, college: Florida) made it 78:77 for the hosts with 32 seconds to go. Riccardo Moraschini drew the foul and then sank two free throws to give Olimpia Milano the lead. Nick Calathes had a chance to win it for Panathinaikos but missed a jumper at the buzzer. Vladimir Micov (201-SF-85, agency: BeoBasket) delivered 18 points, while Luis Scola (206-F/C-80) finished with 17 points and 9 rebounds for the Italian side. Nick Calathes answered with 23 points for Panathinaikos.
