The much anticipated fixtures between the Australian Boomers and USA Basketball at Marvel Stadium are starting to increase in star power, with rumours emerging as to the NBA players who could be making their way to Melbourne.

According to Marc Stein, Kemba Walker of the Charlotte Hornets has committed to being a part of the team that makes it’s way to China for the FIBA World Cup, with the games in Melbourne serving as preparation.

In addition to Walker, Stein also noted that Team USA are seeking commitments from the likes of James Harden who is expected to be on the roster with Anthony Davis also a priority.

One of the more intriguing names that has emerged is the expected number one pick in the NBA Draft, Zion Williamson. After his jaw dropping College season at Duke, Team USA are gauging the future star’s interest in joining the lineup.

Williamson is expected to be selected with the first overall pick in the Draft by the New Orleans Pelicans.

The final name in the mix according to Stein is Utah Jazz star Donovan Mitchell, who would face teammate Joe Ingles when the two collide at Marvel Stadium in August.

The Australian Boomers squad of 18 was named last month, headlined by Philadelphia 76ers star Ben Simmons and including a slew of NBL stars including Nathan Sobey, Nick Kay, Chris Goulding, Mitch McCarron, Todd Blanchfield and Mitch Creek.
