Juan Mata’s Man United injury
Man United midfielder Juan Mata last just 25 minutes on Sunday against Liverpool in the Premier League.
Mata was subbed out the game for Jesse Lingard.
That changed blew up in Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer’s face soon after, as Lingard also needed to leave the game with a knock. He was replaced by Alexis Sanchez.
Juan Mata vs Mo Salah
In the 23rd minute, Mata showed off his defensive qualities.
Liverpool threatened to break through United’s backline on the counter-attack.
The ball was fed to Mo Salah down the Liverpool right hand side, and it was up to Mata top stop the Egyptian.
Mata made a fine tackle on Salah just inside the Man United area, and he duly snuffed out the attack.
But Mata’s efforts in stopping Salah may have backfired.
Indeed, as soon as Mata cleared the danger, the grimace on his face was clear to see.
Juan Mata’s update before Crystal Palace
Every Monday Mata posts his weekly blog update.
Today the Spaniard has addressed his injury problems suffered against Liverpool. He wrote:
In terms of my own injury problem, I could feel something for a few minutes and I hope that I didn’t make it worse when racing to stop Salah on the counter at attack (I had to do it!). I’m hoping it isn’t anything serious. I will do everything that I can to get back as soon as possible.
Thank you so much for all of your support and for all of the messages that have wished me a speedy recovery. I hope you all have a great week.
The assumption is that Mata will miss the midweek Premier League match away at Crystal Palace.
