American Forward Justin Knox (205-F-89, agency: Two Points) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Trento, receiving a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 8.
The 30-year old player was the main contributor (23 points, seven rebounds and two assists) to his team’s victory, helping them to beat Pesaro (#17, 0-7), the league’s bottom-ranked team 101-95. Trento is placed at 6th position in Italian Serie A. They would have been even better if they hadn’t lost a few games earlier this season. Trento will need more victories to improve their 4-3 record. It was one of impressive evenings for Knox as usually he does not deliver so high stats. Justin Knox averages this season 11.2ppg. Worth to mention Knox played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball.

The second best player in last round’s games was 23-year old American Jaylen Barford (191-G-96) of Pesaro. Barford had a very good evening with 29 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Bad luck as Pesaro lost that game 95-101 to the higher-ranked Trento (#6, 4-3). Pesaro are still at the very bottom. 7 lost games are too many considering they did not win any game. Barford is a newcomer at Pesaro, but is already one of team’s top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 16.8ppg (#4). He also recorded 3.3 assists per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Davon Jefferson (204-F-86) of Virtus Roma (#8). Jefferson scored 16 points and grabbed twelve rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Virtus Roma, leading his team to a 76-74 win against the lower-ranked Cantu (#11, 3-4). Virtus Roma needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 4 victories and 4 lost games. Jefferson has a great season in Italy. After only 7 games, he made it on the list of the league’s leaders in points with 15.4ppg (7th best) and rebounds with 7.7rpg (7th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Matt Tiby (203-PF-92) of Cremona – 19 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists
5. Derek Cooke Jr. (206-F-91) of Trieste – 13 points and 14 rebounds
6. Jerome Dyson (191-SG-87) of Virtus Roma – 21 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists

8. Jeremiah Wilson (205-PF-88) of Cantu – 11 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists

10. Julian Gamble (208-F/C-89) of Virtus BO – 12 points and 9 rebounds

The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it’s accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) – 2*BSAG – 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM – 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) – 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) – (FTA-FTM)

26-year old forward Kruize Pinkins (201-F-93) put on an amazing game in the last round for second-ranked Basket TO and receives a Interperformances Serie A2 Player of the Week award for round 7.
He had the game-high 29 points adding nine rebounds for Basket TO in his team’s victory, helping them to edge out Bergamo Bsk (#11, 3-4) 84-80. Basket TO maintains the 2nd position in their group in Italian Serie A2. They would have been even better if they did not have these two lost games earlier in Regular Season. Basket TO will need more victories to improve their 5-2 record. In the team’s last game Pinkins had a remarkable 75.0% from 2-point range and got three three-pointers out of 7 attempts. He turned to be Basket TO’s top player in his first season with the team. Kruize Pinkins averages this season 17.1ppg and 7.6rpg.

Second best performed player last round was Gherardo Sabatini (181-PG-94) of Urania Milano. He is a guard in his first season at Urania Milano. In the last game Sabatini recorded impressive triple-double of 19 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists. Of course Urania Milano cruised to a 77-65 relatively comfortable win over Orzinuovi (2-5). The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the top position in East. But Urania Milano managed to improve slightly their position in standings taking 12th place. 5 lost games are too many comparing to just two victories Urania Milano managed to get this year. Sabatini is a newcomer at Urania Milano and quickly became one of team’s most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to forward Anthony Morse (206-F-94, agency: Two Points) of A.Costa IM (#11). Morse scored 26 points and grabbed fourteen rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of A.Costa IM, leading his team to a 94-84 win against slightly lower-ranked JuveCaserta (#13, 2-5). The chances of A.Costa IM ranking at the top of East, however are very questionable as they have already lost 4 games, recording just three victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Morse could help A.Costa IM to bring them higher in the standings. Morse has a great season in Italy. After only 7 games, he made it on the list of the league’s leaders in points with 20.0ppg (9th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Derrick Marks (190-G-93) of Basket TO – 27 points and 5 rebounds

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
