As BoxingScene.com recently reported, Australian superstars Jeff Horn and Tim Tszyu have agreed on a date for their super welterweight showdown.
Five venues are in the running to host the all-Aussie fight on April 22, with the winner expected to land a world title shot.
Brisbane Exhibition Centre, Sydney’s Bankwest Stadium, Margaret Court Arena in Melbourne, Perth’s RAC Arena and Country Bank Stadium in Townsville have all been mentioned as destinations for the bout.
Queenslander Horn (20-2-1) avenged his previous defeat to Michael Zerafa with a thrilling victory over his countryman in December.
Tszyu, unbeaten in 15 professional fights, also fought in December, stopping Jack Brubaker in the fourth round.
Horn has agreed to drop his rematch clause, while Tszyu has relented on his original demands for a twelve round bout. Horn was adamant that he wanted a ten round bout.
“I pretty much got what I wanted with this one,” Horn told 2GB.
“I was very adamant I wanted 10 rounds especially with the dates they were talking in April. I just thought it made sense.
“Why push myself too hard when it could only be a 10-round fight and I could get ready for it a lot easier?”
Horn says all venues are being discussed, but the chances of the fight being staged in Brisbane are strong.
