Manchester City & PSV defender Angelino
According to Spanish paper La Voz de Galicia on Monday, Manchester City are closing in on signing PSV left-back Angelino.
If Angelino’s name sounds familiar, that’s because the 22-year-old previously left Man City to join PSV just twelve months ago.
Back in June 2018, Man City sold Angelino to PSV for 5 million pounds.
Angelino agreed a five-year deal with PSV.
During his previous stint at Man City, Angelino was restricted to just a handful of appearances.
Angelino made his Man City debut against Aston Villa in the FA Cup in 2016, while Pep Guardiola played the defender against Steaua Bucharest in the Champions League.
Manchester City activate Angelino buy-back clause
La Voz de Galicia have revealed that when Man City sold Angelino to PSV, the Sky Blues secured a buy-back clause.
The Spanish paper report that Man City will pay 12 million euros to re-sign the left-back.
It’s also claimed that several other clubs have been sniffing around Angelino.
They include PSG, who were rumoured to be prepared to spend 25 million euros on the full-back.
Napoli, Borussia Dortmund, Ajax, Barcelona and Arsenal were also listed as potential suitors.
The Dutch press reaction to the Man City, Angelino story
Telegraaf tell their readers that PSV seem certain to lose Angelino after just one season.
The paper claim that sources have confirmed that Angelino will return to Man City.
However, Eindhoven Dagblad try to suggest that PSV may retain the defender.
They claim that Angelino’s future is “unclear”.
