TalkBasket.net spoke with Fenerbahce forward, Nikola Kalinic, following his team’s victory over Olympiacos in Piraeus on Thursday (72-73).
Here is what the Serbian player said:
On Fenerbahce’s win: “We controlled the floor and the tempo for most of the game. It was important for us to do this. Physicality was the key I think.”
On Kostas Sloukas: “Kostas was amazing. It was hard for him to play here. He was here for five years, so it was emotional for him. He was great, he scored big baskets and was amazing.”
On his performance: “I was good, but Papanikolaou scored some amazing shots on me. It was good defence, but he hit some big shots, so I was almost the guy who lost the game. But, fortunately, we won.”
On the tough schedule and EuroLeague’s double week: “It was a great win, we played five of our six games away against difficult opponents. It is a tough period for us.
Now, we are playing against Darussafaka at home and (against) Maccabi Tel-Aviv, Panathinaikos and Barcelona on the road.
It is really difficult, but we have to fight. We will be good, if we claim two victories next week. Unfortunately, we lost against Anadolu Efes, but we have done a good job so far.”
