It’s sounding like Ohio State defensive end Jack Sawyer plans to come back to Columbus.
During Tuesday’s media session, the Buckeyes star was asked if he’s looking forward to playing against Akron next year. To which the Ohio native replied, “I don’t know, we’ll see. More than likely, yeah. Probably,” instead of just brushing the question off.
OSU has a number of third-year players weighing their options of whether to go pro or not. Including fellow defensive linemen JT Tuimoloau, Tyleik Williams and Mike Hall, cornerbacks Denzel Burke and Jordan Hancock, running back TreVeyon Henderson, offensive lineman Donovan Jackson and wideout Emeka Egbuka.
“I talk to them a lot. Pretty frequently,” Sawyer admitted when pondering his future. “I think that once we got down to the bowl we were pretty focused on Missouri, but we definitely do all talk about it a little bit.”
2023 saw Sawyer post his best season yet with 44 tackles, 3.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and two passes defensed.
Ohio State is set to face the Missouri Tigers in the Cotton Bowl this Friday where they’ll attempt to post their fourth one-loss season of the Ryan Day era.
