Mattéo Guendouzi and Gerson were absent from training on Wednesday. For the rest, Igor Tudor should be able to rely on a full squad for OM-Toulouse on Thursday, apart from the long unavailability of Amine Harit.
According to information collected by RMC Sports, Igor Tudor had to deal with two absentees, in training, this Wednesday morning. Mattéo Guendouzi, who returned recently due to his participation in the World Cup, remained indoors. Jordan Veretout has meanwhile directly reintegrated into the workforce. The second absentee is Gerson. The Brazilian has been training on the sidelines since his return from Brazil. He is waiting for an agreement to be reached for his transfer to Flamengo. Discussions are said to be underway and the outcome for his departure should take place this week.
The World Cup has changed the calendar of the Phocaeans. Like the other Ligue 1 clubs, OM first gave their players rest. The Marseille delegation then went to Spain, to Marbella, for an internship. The players followed a program somewhat equivalent to those of the summer preparations, and Igor Tudor benefited from a few weeks to inculcate his playing precepts. The Croatian had had little time to study his system last summer, insofar as where Jorge Sampaoli, unhappy with the transfer window, had abandoned ship at the last moment.
This should move in the transfer window
OM was therefore able to fine-tune the athletic conditions and the settings. His goal for the second half of the season is to get back on track with the ambitions announced at the start of the season. The objective is to qualify for the Champions League for a second consecutive year. But the formation of Igor Tudor points for the moment to the 4e position in the standings, 1 point behind Rennes and 6 points behind RC Lens. The Olympians, who had a difficult month in the fall, nevertheless struck a blow just before the break by dominating OL (1-0) and AS Monaco (3-2) in quick succession.
The recovery is therefore scheduled against Toulouse, at the Stade Orange Vélodrome. The outcome of the meeting is quite uncertain as the two teams will probably present different levels of athletic preparation. OM is also dealing with a relatively small squad in the attacking sector, after the departures of Arek Milik (Juventus), Cédric Bakambu (Olympiakos) and Luis Suarez (Almeria), the injury of Amine Harit and the thorny case of Gerson. The leaders should operate an active transfer window in January, which should make it possible to compensate for them.
