South East Melbourne Phoenix lost to Shanghai Sharks 76-71 in their second preseason game last night.
The loss sees Phoenix split their China tour, after they defeated Jiangsu Dragons on Wednesday night.
Kendall Stephens’ explosive offensive abilities were on full display, as he led all scorers with 22 points. Two-time NBL champion Adam Gibson added 19 points, with no other South East Melbourne player reaching double digits.
The Phoenix held a 58-52 lead heading into the final quarter, but couldn’t withstand a rampaging finish from the Sharks.
The NBL action is set to continue in China this month, when the star-studded NBL team plays three matches against the Chinese national team, starting June 11.
