Ralph Hasenhuttl feels the Southampton hierarchy are still behind him

Man City vs Southampton

Southampton are set to go head-to-head with Manchester City on Saturday for the second time in the space of a week.

The Saints were handed a 3-1 drubbing at the hands of Man City in the League Cup on Tuesday evening.

The pair now face off in the league and in very contrasting form.

The Citizens begin the weekend 2nd in the English top-flight, six points adrift of table-topping Liverpool who face Aston Villa on Saturday.

As for Southampton, they are down to 18th in the PL with just eight points amassed from 10 outings.

Hasenhuttl believes he has backing of Southampton hierarchy

Southampton’s recent form has been particularly troubling.

They have failed to pick up a win in their last five league ties, losing four.

Southampton were also comprehensively beaten 9-0 by Leicester last Friday.

But despite their league position and recent results, Ralph Hasenhuttl still appears to believe he has the backing of Southampton’s hierarchy:

When asked if he feels Southampton’s hierarchy are still behind him, Hasenhuttl stated:

“Absolutely, yes.

“We speak always. Everybody here, they are good in communication – better sometimes than in playing football.

“Everybody sees what situation we are in and how much we do every day to fight back on the positive track.

“But no doubt we all know about the critical situation at the moment.

“We know that it is a season where it’s again about being relegated or not. This shows from the first 10 rounds [of matches].” As quoted by Sky Sports News.
