Spain – Shane Osayande (ex Saskatchewan R.) joins Prat

   #10. Power forward Oscar Andres (200-87, currently plays in Germany) helped Stade win their game against the 12th-ranked Rendsburg (1-4) crushing them 90-63 in the German Regionalliga (fourth division) in Saturday night’s game. Andres scored 6 points and grabbed 17 rebounds in 26 minutes. VfL Stade (2-1) is placed sixth in North group. Andres is one of the most experienced players in a team as it’s his fifth year in Stade’s roster. This season he has relatively solid stats: 10.3ppg, 10.7rpg and 2.0spg in three games. Andres is a former U20 international player as twelve years ago he still played for the Spanish national team.

   #11. Former U18 international power forward Michel Acosta (201-92, currently plays in Germany) was not able to help Speyer (4-1) in their last game on Saturday. Despite his good performance the first-placed Speyer was defeated 69-61 in Muenchen by the lower-ranked FC Bayern II (#7) in the South group. Acosta was the second best scorer with 11 points. He has reliable stats this season: 11.8ppg, 7.8rpg, 2.4apg and 1.2spg. Acosta used to play for the Spanish U18 national team nine years ago.

   #12. Former U18 international guard Ander Arruti (190-90, currently plays in Austria) helped Lions win their game against the closely-ranked Mustangs 92-83 in the Austrian 2.Bundesliga (second division) in Saturday night’s game. He was the top player that evening. Arruti scored 40 points (!!!), grabbed 4 boards, passed 3 assists and added 5 steals. This season he has very high stats. Arruti averages: 19.6ppg, 3.2rpg, 3.6apg and 3.4spg. He used to play for the Spanish U18 national team back in 2008.

   #13. Former U19 international forward Juan Cabot (200-88, agency: Promo Sport ID, currently plays in Switzerland) was not able to secure a victory for BBC Nyon in their game against Fribourg in the Swiss SBL. Cabot recorded 5 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. His team was crushed by 36 points 107-71. He has averaged so far 7.8ppg, 2.5rpg and 2.5apg. Cabot used to play for the Spanish U19 national team twelve years ago.

   #14. Former international swingman Saul Blanco (196-85, currently plays in France) helped Gries/Oberhoffen win their game against the 14th-ranked Aix-Maurienne 80-62 in the French ProB (second division) last Friday. He was the top player that evening. Blanco scored 16 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and dished 4 assists. His stats this season are: 14.0ppg, 2.0rpg and 2.5apg. Blanco used to play for the Spanish national team back in 2009.

   #15. Former U20 international forward Javier Medori (202-93, currently plays in Austria) is a teammate of previously mentioned Ander Arruti and both played together in the last Austrian 2.Bundesliga game. Medori helped Lions win their game against the closely-ranked Mustangs 92-83. He scored 16 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and made 2 blocks. This season Medori has very high stats. He averages: 15.8ppg, 9.6rpg, 3.4apg and 3.0spg. Medori used to play for the Spanish U20 national team six years ago.

The list of other players, who all have Spanish passport but never been selected to any of Spanish national teams:

   #1. Experienced Luis Scola (206-F/C-80, currently plays in Euroleague) was the major contributor in a 1-point Armani Milano‘s victory against the 11th-ranked Panathinaikos (1-2) 79-78 in the Euroleague in Thursday night’s game. He scored 17 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in 23 minutes. AX Armani Exchange Milano (2-1) is placed seventh in the Euroleague. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. Scola has relatively good stats this year: 15.0ppg, 6.3rpg and 1.7apg in three games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Argentinian and Spanish.

   #2. Caio Torres (211-C-87, agency: Interperformances, currently plays in Liga SudAmericana) led his Brazilian team Pinheiros to a victory over the closely-ranked Malvin (1-2) 71-59 in the Liga Sudamericana last Tuesday. Torres was MVP of the game. He recorded 17 points, 9 rebounds and 3 blocks. E.C. Pinheiros Sao Paolo (2-1) is placed second in group C. The Regular Season already ended in the Liga Sudamericana. This season Torres averages: 10.0ppg, 4.7rpg and 1.3bpg. He is another player who holds two passports: Spanish and Brazilian.

   #3. Esteban Batista (208-C-83, agency: Duran International, currently plays in Argentina) was the main contributor in a 1-point San Lorenzo‘s victory against the fifth-ranked Penarol (2-5) 90-89 in the Argentinian La Liga on Friday night. Batista was MVP of the game. He had a double-double by scoring 16 points and getting 10 rebounds in a mere 18 minutes. San Lorenzo de Almagra (5-1) is placed first in Grupo D group. It was his team’s fifth consecutive victory in a row. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. This year Batista averages: 9.8ppg, 6.3rpg and 1.5apg in six games. He has both Spanish and Uruguayan nationalities.

   #4. Jonathan Maldonado (188-G-90, currently plays in Argentina) contributed to an easy victory against the fifth-ranked Estudiantes Concordia (0-7) 88-69 in the Argentinian La Liga in Wednesday night’s game. Maldonado was MVP of the game. He scored 29 points (!!!), made 3 passes and 4 steals (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). La Union Formosa (4-3) is placed third in Grupo A group. It was his team’s fourth consecutive victory in a row. The Regular Season already ended. Maldonado has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 17.6ppg, 3.3rpg, 3.4apg and 1.4spg. Maldonado also holds two passports: Spanish and Argentinian.

   #5. Marcus Vinicius Toledo (201-F-86, currently plays in Brazil) is a teammate of previously mentioned Caio Torres. But that was another game of his team in Brazilian NBB which we would like to mention. Toledo could not help Pinheiros (15-0) in their last game. Despite his good performance the league leader Pinheiros lost 87-96 in a derby game to the lower-ranked (#3) Vivo/Franca. Toledo scored 11 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 23 minutes. It was his first game for Pinheiros this season. Toledo has Spanish and Brazilian nationalities.

   #6. Rafael Hettsheimeir (206-C-86, currently plays in Brazil) faced previously mentioned Marcus Vinicius Toledo in the Brazilian NBB last game. Hettsheimeir contributed to Vivo/Franca‘s victory against the 13th-ranked Pinheiros 96-87 in a derby game. He scored 12 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Hettsheimeir’s total stats this season are: 9.5ppg and 6.5rpg. He has dual citizenship: Spanish and Brazilian.

   #7. Arnette Hallman (200-F-88, currently plays in Portugal) contributed to Benfica‘s victory against the 12th-ranked Oliveirense 77-67 in the Portuguese LPB last Saturday. Hallman recorded 16 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists (made all of his five free throws) in 28 minutes. It was his first game for Benfica this season. Hallman is a naturalized American. He used to play for Estudiantes de Lugo in Spanish league.

   #8. Jhonatan Araujo (208-C-96, currently plays in Mexico) contributed to an easy victory against the fifth-ranked Huracanes 100-85 in the Mexican LNBP (second division) in Thursday night’s game. Araujo had a double-double by scoring 16 points and getting 18 rebounds. He also added 2 blocks in 40 minutes. Araujo has very impressive stats this year: 15.3ppg, 10.6rpg, 1.9apg and 1.2spg in nine games. He has dual citizenship: Spanish and Dominican Republic.

   #9. Jose Victor Jeronimo (208-C-91, currently plays in Chile) contributed to a 1-point AB Ancud‘s victory against the fifth-ranked Puerto Montt 67-66 in the Chilean Liga Nacional last Saturday. Jeronimo scored 10 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and made 2 blocks. Jeronimo’s total stats this season are: 7.3ppg, 8.0rpg and 1.5bpg. He holds both Spanish and Brazilian passports. Despite Jeronimo’s Spanish nationality, he previously played for the Brazilian U19 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Spanish team.

   #10. Orlando Sanchez (206-SF-88, college: St.John’s, currently plays in Japan) contributed to an easy victory against the sixth-ranked Koshigaya Alphas crushing them 92-63 in the Japanese B2 League in Wednesday night’s game. Sanchez was the best player in that game. He scored 22 points, had 8 boards, passed 5 assists and added 5 steals. This season Sanchez has relatively solid stats: 14.3ppg, 10.3rpg, 3.8apg, 1.3bpg and 3.3spg. He has dual citizenship: Spanish and Dominican Republic.
