Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The biggest surprise of round 7 in U19 League was guest Turk Telekom’s (#3) road victory over Galatasaray (#4) 90-82 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Galatasaray. Turk Telekom forced 20 Galatasaray turnovers. 28 personal fouls committed by Galatasaray helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Yigit Ozkan (-1) fired 28 points, 6 assists and 4 steals for the winners. point guard Batuhan Acar (-2) chipped in 20 points and 5 rebounds. Tarik Gunay (-1) produced 16 points and 5 assists for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Turk Telekom maintains third place with 5-2 record behind leader Anadolu Efes, which they share with TED Ankara. Galatasaray at the other side keeps the fourth position with three games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Turk Telekom is looking forward to face Tesvikiye (#6) at home in the next round. Galatasaray will play against the league’s second-placed Tofas in Bursa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Important game to mention about took place in Istanbul. Eighth ranked Arel Univ (2-5) saved a 1-point victory at home edging 6th ranked Tesvikiye (3-4) 78-77 on Sunday evening. Worth to mention a great performance of Berat Akin (-2) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 12 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Safak Yurdakulu contributed with 15 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Ege Eskinazi answered with 13 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists for Tesvikiye. Tesvikiye’s coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn’t help. Arel Univ moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Bahcehir and Gaziantep. Tesvikiye at the other side keeps the sixth position with four games lost. They share it with Gelisim Koleji. Arel Univ will play against Afyon (#10) in Afyonkarahisar in the next round. Tesvikiye will play on the road against Turk Telekom (#3) in Ankara and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Fenerbahce keeps a position of league leader, which they share with TAC NEF and Tofas. Loser Banvit keeps the fourth place with three games lost. Fenerbahce will face Bahcehir (#9) in Acibadem in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Banvit will play at home against Ozel Gelisim Koleji (#7) and hope to win that game.

Other games of round 7 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Bahcehir crushed Afyon in Acibadem 119-49. Darussafaka beat Bursaspor at home 67-61. TAC NEF won against Gaziantep on the opponent’s court 62-53. Gelisim Koleji unfortunately lost to Tofas in a home game 66-77. Pinar Karsiyaka recorded a loss to FMV Isik on the road 67-79.

Afyon – Bahcehir 49-119

The game between closely ranked teams ended with bottom-ranked Afyon‘s (0-7) home loss to ninth ranked Bahcehir (2-5) 49-119 on Sunday. Bahcehir dominated down low during the game scoring 90 of its points in the paint compared to Afyon’s 32. Bahcehir forced 32 Afyon turnovers and outrebounded them 55-24 including a 24-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Afyon’s players. Bartu Yilmaz (-1) fired a double-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Center Abdulkadir Gulsen (202-1) chipped in 19 points and 7 rebounds. Five Bahcehir players scored in double figures. Furkan Ozcan (-1) produced 18 points and Veli Yildiz (-2) added 12 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Bahcehir moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Arel Univ. and Gaziantep. Afyon lost their seventh game in a row. They still close the standings with seven games lost. Bahcehir will face league’s leader Fenerbahce in Istanbul in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Afyon will play at home against Arel Univ (#8) and hopes to get finally their first victory.

First defeat of league’s leader Pinar Karsiyaka (6-1) against sixteenth ranked Acibadem (1-6) 72-70 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Pinar Karsiyaka. Acibadem looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Australian-South Sudanese center Mangok Mathiang (208-92, college: Louisville) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 11 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists. American point guard Trae Golden (189-91, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Network Sports International) contributed with 18 points and 5 assists for the winners. Four Acibadem players scored in double figures. Senegalese-French Amath MBaye (206-89, college: Oklahoma) answered with 18 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Tony Taylor (185-90, college: GWU) added 15 points and 5 assists in the effort for Pinar Karsiyaka. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Acibadem left bottom position moving up to fourteenth place, which they share with ITU BB and Buyukcekmece. Pinar Karsiyaka at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. They were joined at the leadership position by Anadolu Efes who have the same record. Pinar Karsiyaka will play next round against Galatasaray trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Acibadem will try to continue on its current victory against thirteenth ranked OGM Orman in Ankara.

Important game to mention about took place in Istanbul. Seventh ranked Galatasaray (5-2) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 6th ranked Darussafaka (4-3) 78-75 on Saturday evening. It was a great evening for Greek-American center Zach Auguste (208-93, college: Notre Dame, agency: Pensack Sports) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds. American forward Ben Moore (203-95, college: SMU) helped adding 17 points and 8 rebounds. At the losing side American-Puerto Rican guard Gary Browne (185-93, college: WVU) responded with 17 points and 5 rebounds and international guard Sinan Guler (192-83, college: Carroll, MT) scored 14 points. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Galatasaray moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Bandirma. Darussafaka at the other side dropped to the seventh position with three games lost. They share it with Bursaspor. Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Istanbul: Fenerbahce (#4) and Besiktas (#10). Despite it looked like an easy game for Fenerbahce, those rules do not exist in derby games. It’s more the case of honor for local supporters and such games have that special and unique approach you cannot find in other games. Guest Besiktas challenged much higher ranked Fenerbahce giving them a very tough game, but finally losing it by four points 84-80. Fenerbahce looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Besiktas was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for Greek point guard Kostas Sloukas (197-90) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 6 assists. He was the major contributor in a Maccabi T-A‘s victory against one of league’s weakest teams ALBA Berlin (1-6) crushing them 104-78 in the Euroleague in Thursday night’s game. Wilbekin recorded 16 points and added 3 assists in a mere 18 minutes on the court. Maccabi Fox Tel-Aviv (5-2) is placed fifth in the Euroleague. It was his team’s fifth consecutive victory in a row. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. Wilbekin has relatively good stats this year: 15.0ppg, 1.3rpg, 2.4apg, 1.6spg, 2FGP: 45.8%, 3FGP: 44.2% in seven games he played so far. He is a naturalized American. Despite Wilbekin played previously for the USA U19 national team, he is currently a member of the Turkish senior national team. Wilbekin used to play for Darussafaka Dogus Istanbul in Turkish league.
   #2. Second place goes to an international guard Furkan Korkmaz (198-97, currently plays in NBA). He could not help the Philadelphia 76ers (5-3) in their last game on Monday. Despite Korkmaz’s very good performance the Philadelphia 76ers (5-3) were defeated 114-109 on the road by the Phoenix Suns. He scored 20 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. But the season just started, so everything may happen. This year Korkmaz has relatively solid stats: 8.9ppg, 2.3rpg, 2FGP: 43.8%, 3FGP: 47.1%(16-34) and FT: 75.0%. He is in the roster of the Turkish senior national team.
   #3. The Turkish player who performed third best last week abroad was an international forward Cedi Osman (204-95, currently plays in NBA). Osman was not able to help the Cleveland Cavaliers (3-5) in their last game. Despite his good performance the Cleveland Cavaliers (3-5) lost 113-119 in Boston to the Celtics. Osman scored 12 points, had 5 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 32 minutes. It was Cavaliers’ third consecutive loss in a row. But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen. Osman has reliable stats this year: 9.9ppg, 3.1rpg, 2.0apg, 1.1spg, 3FGP: 45.9%(17-37) and FT: 66.7% in eight games. He has a dual citizenship: North Macedonian and Turkish. Forward Kerem Kanter (208-95, college: Xavier, currently plays in Spain) contributed to an easy victory against one of league’s weakest teams Blusens Monbus (2-6) crushing them 101-77 in the Spanish Liga Endesa in Sunday night’s game. Kanter recorded 6 points. Divina Seguros Juventut Badalonais placed in the Liga Endesa. This season Kanter averages: 3.7ppg and 2.2rpg. He used to play for the Turkish U20 national team back in 2014.
   #5. An experienced former international swingman Serhat Cetin (197-86, currently plays in Romania) contributed to an easy victory against the fourth-ranked Focsani (3-2) 88-72 in the Romanian Liga Nationala last Saturday. Cetin scored 10 points and added 4 assists in 17 minutes. CSO Voluntari (5-0) is placed first in Group B. So far his team won all five games in the Regular Season. This year Cetin’s overall stats are: 3.7ppg and 2.2rpg in six games. He used to play for the Turkish national team five years ago.
   #6. Forward Ersan Ilyasova (208-87, currently plays in NBA) managed to help Milwaukee Bucks to win against the Toronto Raptors (6-2) 115-105 in the NBA on Saturday night. Ilyasova scored 5 points, had 6 rebounds and made 2 blocks. The Milwaukee Bucks have a solid 6-3 record this season. It was his team’s fourth consecutive victory in a row. But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen. Ilyasova’s total stats this season are: 6.2ppg and 5.4rpg. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Turkish National Team roster.
   #7. U20 international guard Mert Akay (198-0, currently plays in Serbia) was not able to secure a victory for Dynamic VP (4-2) in their game against Napredak (4-2) in the Serbian KLS.    #10. Guard Erten Gazi (190-97, currently plays college basketball in the States) led Fordham to a victory against the St. Francis College (NY) 68-59 in the NCAA on Tuesday night. Gazi recorded 11 points in 23 minutes. It was his first game for Fordham this season. His team has conference record this season. Gazi is a former U20 international player as two years ago he still played for the Turkish national team.

   #11. Former U20 international guard Ege Havsa (193-97, currently studies in the States) contributed to an easy victory against the Westminster College, Utah 72-55 in the NCAA in Tuesday night’s game. He recorded 5 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. It was his first game for Utah Valley this season. Havsa used to play for the Turkish U20 national team two years ago.

   #12. Former U18 international power forward Arber Berisha (202-97, currently plays in Kosovo) couldn’t help Peja in their game against Rahoveci in the Kosovan Superliga. Berisha scored only 4 points. It was his first game for Peja this season. His team was defeated 83-75. Berisha used to play for the Turkish U18 national team back in 2015.

   #13. Former international center Mutlu Demir (211-87, currently plays in France) couldn’t help GET Vosges in their game against SOPCC in the French NM1 (third division). Despite his very good performance last Friday Demir was the second best scorer with 16 points. Demir has averaged so far 9.6ppg and 2.9rpg. He used to play for the Turkish national team ten years ago.

   #14. Former U20 international center Omer Yurtseven (213-98, is currently at the American university) contributed to Georgetown‘s victory against the Central Arkansas 89-78 in the NCAA on Saturday night. Yurtseven had a double-double by scoring 17 points and getting 15 rebounds. He also added 3 blocks in a mere 19 minutes. It was his first game for Georgetown this season. Yurtseven used to play for the Turkish U20 national team back in 2017.

Canberk Kus (198-G, currently plays college basketball in the States) led Arkansas St. to an easy victory against the University of Arkansas at Monticello (6-2) 65-49 in the NCAA on Wednesday night. He scored 17 points, grabbed 7 boards, dished 4 assists and stole 4 balls in 28 minutes. The Arkansas State University has conference record this season. Kus’ stats this year are: 13.5ppg, 4.5rpg, 3.0apg and 4.0spg in two games he played so far.

   #2. Kemal Canbolat (211-C-94, currently plays in Lithuania) led Silute to a victory over the tenth-ranked Ezerunas (5-7) 102-93 in the Lithuanian NKL (second division) in Saturday night’s game. He was MVP of the game. Canbolat recorded a double-double by scoring 25 points and getting 11 rebounds. BC Silute (9-2) is placed second in the NKL. It was his team’s third consecutive victory in a row. Canbolat averaged so far 11.5ppg, 7.0rpg, 1.5apg and 1.5bpg.

   #3.
