Sol Campbell leaves Macclesfield Town
Macclesfield Town made a big splash last season when they appointed Sol Campbell as their manager.
Campbell took over the SIlkmen when they were facing League Two relegation in the face.
However, the former Tottenham, Arsenal and England defender managed to keep Macclesfield in the league.
After two rounds of the new season, Macclesfield are sixth in League Two.
But in a shock statement on Thursday, Macclesfield have confirmed Sol Campbell has left the club.

Macclesfield: ‘Mutual contest’
On their club website, Macclesfield announced the following:
Macclesfield Town can confirm that after eight months with the club and successfully leading us to League Two safety last season, we have mutually agreed to part ways with manager Sol Campbell.
This has been conducted in the most amicable of ways and there has been total transparency between the club and Sol regarding the challenges which face lower league clubs such as Macclesfield Town.
Why Sol Campbell has left Macclesfield
While there certainly seems to be a warm feeling between the parties, the exact details of why Campbell left the club were kept under wraps.
Interestingly, unconfirmed reports on social media surfaced on Wednesday night claiming that Campbell hadn’t been paid for four months.
Apparently Little kiddo @antkiddo1 reckons Sol Campbell is leaving Macc in the morning. He’s not been paid for 4 months👀⚽

Elsewhere, TalkSport’s Sam Matterface has reminded his followers that Campbell has previously voiced his frustrations about the Silkmen’s finances.
Sol Campbell leaves Macclesfield.
Worth remembering his frustrations he offered to @talksport in the summer.
He wanted to take his players on a foreign trip for pre season whilst the club were struggling to pay the players.

Back in the summer, the Sun also reported on the financial problems at Macclesfield Town.
Sol Campbell piece in the Sun today. He says it’s hard managing Macc, the owner will start doing things properly and he loves having intelligent conversations with the fans. 🤥🔵⚪️ pic.twitter.com/dRkl3jW9tB
