France – Lithuania 78:75

France earned the key win over Lithuania at the start of the Second Stage of the 2019 World Cup. les Bleues secured quarterfinal berth with the victory. Evan Fournier (198-SG-92) produced 24 points to pace the winners.
France got to a quick start. They poured in 26 points in the first period to take a 12-point lead. France maintained the lead throughout the second period. They entered the second half up by 10 points 50:40. France stretched the lead to as many as 17 points midway through the third period. But Lithuania refused to give up. They narrowed the distance to 11 points heading into the fourth term. The Baltic team went on a strong rally in the final quarter to deny the deficit. Jonas Maciulis (198-F-85) drained a three-pointer to give Lithuania a 72:70 advantage with just over three minutes remaining. But Nando De Colo (196-G-87) responded with a triple to restore French lead. Jonas Valanciunas (213-C-92) tied things up at 74 but Evan Fournier gave France a 76:74 advantage with 53 seconds to go. Jonas Valanciunas split free throws and Nando De Colo punished his opponents with a swift jumper to put France ahead by three 78:75 with 15 seconds to go. Jonas Maciulis then missed a three-pointer as France got away with a crucial win. Nando De Colo chipped in 21 points for France. Jonas Valanciunas replied with 18 points and 8 rebounds for Lithuania.
