Serbia – Puerto Rico 90:47

Serbia keep piling up victories in China. They drubbed Puerto Rico in the Second Stage opener in Wuhan. Nemanja Bjelica (209-SF-88) posted 18 points and 6 rebounds to lead the European powerhouse.
It was all Serbia right from the get-go. Serbia grabbed a 23:14 lead at the first break. They added 26 points in the second period to open a 49:26 halftime advantage. Serbia followed with a strong 22:13 run in the third quarter to clear off for good. Boban Marjanovic (222-C-88, agency: BeoBasket) netted 16 points in the win. David Huertas (195-G/F-87, college: Ole Miss) banked in 11 points for Puerto Rico.

Adam Waczynski (199-SF-89) nailed 18 points to pace Poland to the fourth straight win at the tournament. Poland started quite slowly. Russia capitalized taking a 22:16 lead after ten minutes. Russia continued to exercise their plan as they built a 40:34 halftime advantage. But Poland started to come back to life gradually in the second half. They pulled within 4 points at the final break….

Poland started quite slowly. Russia capitalized taking a 22:16 lead after ten minutes. Russia continued to exercise their plan as they built a 40:34 halftime advantage. But Poland started to come back to life gradually in the second half. They pulled within 4 points at the final break. Poland opened the fourth frame on an 11:1 rally to spur ahead. Poland boosted the margin at 6 points late in regulation and held on to rally to the win. Mateusz Ponitka (198-SF-93) netted 14 points in the victory. Mikhail Kulagin (191-G-94, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) answered with 21 points for Russia.

Iran dropped 20 points in the third period to regain the advantage. They entered the fourth stanza up by 3 points. Iran did not slow down in the fourth period. They unloaded 23 points to race to a moral-boosting win. Aaron Geramipoor (213-C-92, college: Seton Hall) had 11 points for Iran. Carlos Morais (200-G-85, agency: Duran International) delivered 17 points for Angola.
