Fenerbahce coach Zejko Obradovic attended the funeral of long time Panathinaikos president Pavlos Giannakopoulos in Athens, mere hours before his side face Tofas Bursa in Game 5 of the Turkish League finals.
Together with Giannakopoulos, Obradovic spent 13 years of his career in Panathinaikos, turning them into the Greek powerhouse and with that into a EuroLeague dynasty, where they won five championship titles between 2000 and 2011.
“He was like my father. I have big respect for him,” Obradovic said of Giannakopoulos on Monday.
Giannakopoulos passed away following a short illness at the age of 89.
