We shouldn’t be surprised to see Corey Seager’s name at the top.
The Texas Rangers didn’t give him $325 million a couple of years ago just because his name has a cool ring to it.
If it wasn’t for Shohei Ohtani and his unreal feats every time he takes the field, Seager would have run away with the AL MVP award last season.
He hit an incredible .327/.390/.623 with a career-high 1.013 OPS, 33 home runs, and 96 RBI.
He also hit 42 doubles, and did all that in just 119 games.
Not only that, but he was a force in the postseason and a major reason why the Rangers were able to win their first World Series in team history.
Seager had a 1.700 OPS in the Wild Card series against the Tampa Bay Rays, a 1.567 mark in the Division Series against the Baltimore Orioles, a .819 mark in the Championship Series against the Houston Astros, and a 1.137 mark vs. the Arizona Diamondbacks in the World Series.
In total, he hit six home runs in the postseason.
Numbers speak much, much louder than words.
Everything you need to know about Seager, you can see it in what he has done for the Rangers.
He is, deservingly, the top shortstop in the league right now in the minds of fans.
